Another busy month in Derrylatinee. We celebrated St Brigid's Day by making crosses and we had our very successful father's night .The P7 students received their Transfer Test results - 100% pass rate - well done and we came top of the class at the Credit Union Quiz.We also made lots of pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and welcomed Tom from the Stem Project to the P5-P7 classroom. 
The children continued with the Accelerated Reading Programme and their own work in class.P1 and P2 made some wonderful houses which now sit in our entrance hall. P3 and P4 celebrated Chinese New Year by making dragons and making their own Chinese food. 
No wonder we are all tired at home time!!

Catholic Schools Week

December 
2015 
December was a busy month in school. We began the month with our performance in Craic Theatre. Work continued in classes, the children began an Accelerated Reading Scheme and we prepared for Christmas. To end the month we had an award ceremony,the children were presented with certificates to mark their achievements in term one. To top it all off we had The X Factor , here our kids showcased their many talents.

Happy Feet 
We have set ourselves a challenge of walking one mile a day during break time. If we meet the challenge we will have walked 180 miles this year, that's quite an achievement!!

Maths Week 

P5,6&7 celebrated Maths Week by building newspaper structures. Lots of measuring and calculating was needed to make sure they were the right size. 

P3&P4 had a great time celebrating Maths Week. They took part in a Maths Trail and a number obstacle course.They found numbers everywhere!!

Today our P1s are confident and growing in maturity every day. I can recall how these children came to Derrylatinee as timid and often fearful little children. when I think of our school motto"Mol an oige agus tiocfaidh si", I feel we have achieved our goal.

On Friday 29th May two very popular ladies retired from school. We are very sad to say good bye to Evelyn and Margaret. Thank you for all your hard work throughout the years,you will be sadly missed.

We had a great Harry Potter Night. All the children enjoyed coming to school in their pyjamas, along with lots of goodies to eat. We hope you remembered to brush your teeth at home!!

The pupils had a great time in the snow. We did not have enough to build a snowman, the cold doesn't bother us in Derrylatinee!!

On Wednesday 12th November the staff and children of Derrylatinee hosted an Open Night. We welcomed a number of new families, many commented on" the warm and friendly atmosphere". 
 
On Friday 24th October we celebrated Halloween with a pumpkin competition and fancy dress. P1 and P2 made a "witches brew". Lots of fun was had by all!!
